Background
Jessica Rich is a research fellow on the De-cluttering (safely) for safety theme which is focused on identifying and reducing low-value safety practices in healthcare. She has been part of the Patient Safety Research Collaboration since 2022 and is currently in the final stages of her PhD.
Her PhD research aims to improve the safety of service users at the transition from acute inpatient mental health care to community settings. This research involved the development of a service-user reported measure that was designed to evaluate the quality and safety of care at this transition, from the perspective of service users.
Jessica has a background in Psychology, having completed an undergraduate Psychology degree at the University of Sheffield, followed by a MSc in Forensic Psychology and Mental Health at the University of Manchester. Before starting the PhD, Jessica worked within the probation service to deliver offending behaviour-change interventions.
Research Interests
Jessica has a broad range of research interests, with particular focus on patient safety within mental health care. She is also interested in the active involvement of patients and carers in improving patient safety, and in applying behaviour change theories to support the de-implementation of low value care.
