Background

Hana Saeed Shamsan, a qualitative public health and social care researcher with a clinical dentistry background, joined our team as a research fellow in the De-cluttering (safely) for Safety theme in the NIHR YH PSRC in January 2024. Hana’s role in the team focuses on supporting various project streams within the decluttering for safety subtheme. Hana earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2017 and completed her master’s in public health and health promotion at Swansea University in 2022. With more than three years of dedicated research experience in patient safety, quality of care, and patient-centered care, she has a proven track record of contributing to the field.

Before her current role, Hana served as a research assistant at Swansea University’s Healthcare Technology and Innovation Centre (HTC), actively participating in a range of health and social care research projects across Wales, focusing on field hospitals evaluation, medical devices, and healthcare innovation.

Research Interests

Hana is a mixed method researcher with special focus on qualitative research; her research interests lie at the intersection of patient safety, quality of care and healthcare policies.
